Received email from PayPal alerting me their system was hacked

About three weeks ago I received an email from PayPal alerting me their system was hacked.
They requested an “update” for my account – including my Social Security Number. Needless to write I went BALLISTIC!!! My SS# is as strictly confidential as it can possibly be – I think and hope.
I IMMEDIATELY replied to their email. I THINK they received it. (At least MAILER DAEMON wasn’t received.)
A few days later a second request was sent to me. Again I replied to that email. This time MAILER DAEMON was activated. I haven’t used PayPal. I will do my best not to ever use PayPal.
By the way, after their first email, I called an 800 number associated with my card and “killed” that card.

That was a phishing scheme, nothing to do with PayPal. Most of the complaints on this site are just downright stupid…
