PayPal is requesting 23 different documents from me
Hey, Love the site – I hate paypal with a passion.
My problem is this, in March 2012 I opened an account, added my credit card and then proceeded to sell an item on ebay and when the $3800 went into my ebay account the account was “limited” due to australian laws that could mean I was money laundering. I then provided my 400 points of ID that they asked for, my business and banking information they asked for receipts of the purchas i made of the car i sold (which I had to get off the dealership – they had to dig into their 2003 records to find it……. they where helpful) and then contact information for the receiver who had brought my car 9 years later so they could call them and then varify that we do not know each other and that we live in 2 completely different sides of australia.
Anyway, they eventually reinstated the account and I then refused to use it and let it sit there. I just tonight tried to purchase a SG3 online and proceeded to paypal (as the only option for payment) I did the whole login bit and it now says I cannot complete the purchase with my card because the account is limited. So I logged in and sure enough, they are asking for all the same information again and some… they also want authorisation to use my bank account from the bank (pretty sure its mine and I AM AUTHORISING IT!) they also want things they have no right to have like a tax return stating my income, birth certificate’s passports and drivers license, medicare car, bank card, bank statements, registration certificate’s………………. the list goes on for 23 requirements.
I have in my life, got a home loan, 2 car loans and opened 4 bank accounts, run a business and my partner has done the same. Never have I had to or even been asked for that kind of information. Feels like they’re trying to steal my identity, if it didnt actually say www.paypal.com.au/ I would say they are.
Anyway, I called them asking to remove my credit card so I could use paypal checkout without an account, they said they cant…? why? i asked, she doesnt have the authority they said… who does i asked? no one at their office she said…. she gave me an address to their 20sqft office in sydney to write to which by much research I have found to be an incorrect address. the building whe advised me to write to is infact only 13 levels high, she told me to write to an office on the 21st floor of this building.
I am going to call the australian direct number I found on screw-paypal.com but I need to know any recommendations of things I should be saying to the person who may or maynot answer the phone… I am confident I will hold my temper and not attack them, just – some people are genuinely retarded (this covers 95% of paypal/ebay employees) they must have a trigger phrase or something, if all else fails I will drive 13 hours to sydney to go into their office with an explosive vest and order them to remove my account lol (not really) but I cant afford to order a new debit card and have no money for 2 weeks (I work 6am to 7pm monday to saturday, no time to get cash our at a bank)….

I just found this site when doing some research about paypal because I was thinking about signing up and using them for a taking payments on my website that I launch next month but now I am seriously rethinking this. I had no idea tha t people had so many problems with paypal. As one of the most popular online payment systems in the world I thought that they had problems like this figured out. Bigger isn’t always better and that is coming from a man in Texas
