Paypal limitations cost me my home and business

I don’t have the strength to go into it here and now so I’ll give you the short version. Basically I wanted to update my business name and things went very rotten from there. I’ve had the business account with them for many years and never had a problem. They asked me about a dozen verification questions (for the first time, mind you) and since there are two questions COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO ME that I didn’t answer to their satisfaction, they’ve limited my account. That was months ago & I have subsequently lost my business and have a mental disorder that has been exacerbated because of all this. I was evicted from my apartment & am now living on a friend’s couch, on a disability support pension. Life is NOT good & a direct result from being limited by them. I can’t even close the account or remove my bank account, to open a new PayPal account… I only have one bank account and have since 1996. I don’t own a credit card and refuse to apply for one or to change banks.. Please help me if you can.. Hopelessly

Hi Amelia, I am so sorry to hear about what you have been through. Paypal’s random account limitations is one of the most frustrating things a person can deal with. I don’t think there is much you can do at this point to get re-established with paypal. I also suspect that you no longer have an interest in dealing with paypal. You should consider a merchant account, merchantinc is really cheap, and see if you can get your business back up and running. Merchant account providers must follow federal banking regulations, which paypal does not, so they can’t just limit and hold your money for undetermined lengths of time.

Oh Amelia, don’t let Paypal get the best of you. Account limitations through Paypal are a daily occurence and the sad truth is that they don’t care how much grief they cause on the people they limit. Do not continue with Paypal because they will continue to do you wrong! Pick yourself up and look into a merchant account. My boyfriend just left paypal 2 months ago worried that he couldn’t get a merhant account but he is up and running. Much better than with Paypal. Hang in there.

Once you have a limited pay pal account it’s hard to bounce back. My thoughts are to move on and never work with them again. You may have to open a bank account, I stay clear of credit cards because they just cause debt and Lord knows it doesnt sound like you need that piled on top of your load right now.

Once Paypal “limits” your account you usually cant get them taken off. I would definitely suggest going with another processor and opening a new bank account that Paypal doesn’t have access to.

Personally, I think you’re nuts. There is a BIG something you’re not telling us here, isn’t there? You can’t blame ANY of your woes on Paypal. So they limited you. And THAT’s why you “lost your home and business and suffer from a mental disorder?” I think not. Grow up. Get some mental health help – fast.
