I am paying for my iPod that I sold
I had a man purchase an ipod from me and then claim it never showed up. This is after he told me he had to wait for his SS check and would I be kind enough to wait because it was for his sons birthday. He never contacted me about it just opened a case with paypal. They asked for documentation which I provided USPS receipt and record of our conversations but PayPal didn’t bother to use any of it. They also ignored the fact that he had no feedback registered and I have over 130 all positive. They gave this scammer his money back. So my paypal balance is negative and in the process of being sent to collections. So to save my credit I am now paying for the ipod touch and I no longer have the ipod and there is nothing I can do about this problem.
Could things be more wrong? How is this fair? Paypal sucks- I cannot believe ebay associates themselves with something like this. Where would ebay be without the sellers- how about a little protection from them?

Paypal and Ebay are the same. I believe Ebay owns paypal. Unfortunately you are out of luck. I myself wouldn’t pay for something that wasn’t my fault but to each its own. This is why I no longer associate with paypal or anyone using them
Do you really want to keep using paypal after this incident? If you are ready to walk away from PayPal and not use them again then don’t pay the debt. Why pay something you don’t owe? Let them send a collection agency after you and then you tell the collection agency that you NEVER owed this money and tell them to stop calling you or you’ll sue them since you never owed this money. You have to know your rights and don’t be afraid just because Paypal is a huge corporation. YOu can also demand that the collection agency verifies your debt, basically prove that you owe this money, which you don’t so they’ll most likely write if off. You also have the right to dispute the debt! You can read about your rights by doing a search of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Don’t let paypal push you around.
This sounds so familiar to other paypal problems I’ve run into. I quit my job in 2009 to go in business for myself. I thought paypal would be a cost effective solution and since it was a household name I figured that my clients would feel safe using them. Jeesh that couldn’t have turned out to be further from the truth! Let me start by saying their “seller protection” is virtually useless. I had three disputes and only one of them was favored on my side. Every time I turned around there was a new issue to deal with. I was spending the bulk of my time sorting out issues with paypal and my buyers. Do yourself a favor and open a merchant account. Yeah there is a monthly cost but you get what you pay for.
I had the same thing happen to me. Buyer said product wasnt as described even though I supplied tons of pictures of my product then he shipped them back to an address I no longer lived at and Paypal tried to redeem the money. They tried to send to collections but no dice…they dont have your social… Never showed up on my credit.
Worst part is my ebay account closed… it was for the better… I stick to craigslist face to face cash deals only. Screw paypal… scam!
I have similar situation. What can I do know? Paypal refunded the money to the buyer and they don’t care who is right…
